Abstract:MEASURE Evaluation and the Maternal and Neonatal Health (MNH) Project organized a meeting held in Lima, Peru, on October 5-6, 2000 to promote dissemination of the census methodology in Latin America and to discuss its potential use in measuring maternal mortality. The objectives of the meeting were to: 1) disseminate information on the methodology required for maternal mortality measurement from a census; 2) openly discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the methodology based on previous experiences in other countries; and 3) promote discussion and collaboration between Census Bureaus and Ministries of Health on the issue of maternal mortality.
