Pain is a common and distressing symptom among people with HIV disease, yet despite cheap and effective availability of pain relief, it remains under-reported and poorly controlled. The overall purpose of this study was to identify and characterize the prevalence and management of pain among HIV outpatients in PEPFAR sites in Kenya and Uganda. The study aimed to facilitate the development of enhanced pain management programmes in East Africa.
