Abstract:This report focuses on trends in the AIDS epidemic and AIDS-related knowledge, attitudes, and sexual behavior among Tanzanian men and women during the 1990s. The man data sources on the spread of HIV in Tanzania come from antenatal clinic surveillance. After an introductory chapter, chapter 2 of this 62-page report discusses the spread of HIV in Tanzania. Subsequent chapters, respectively, focus on AIDS related knowledge and attitudes; sexual behavior; condom knowledge and use; and the demographic impact of the epidemic. Trend analysis is based on five cross-sectional surveys conducted on nationally representative samples of adults of reproductive age.
