MEASURE Evaluation's involvement in improving country health information systems through the improvement of vital statistics using the Sample Vital Registration with Verbal Autopsy (SAVVY) toolkit was showcased at the Global Health Information Forum held in Bangkok January 27-30, 2010.

SAVVY is a series of best practice manuals and methods for providing vital events information where high coverage of civil registration and good cause of death data are not available.

More than 500 health information experts gathered for the forum which was co-hosted by the Health Metrics Network, the Prince Mahidol Award Conference and the World Health Organization, with the support of the World Bank, the Rockefeller Foundation and other partners. The forum provided a platform for renewed energy and commitment to investing in country health information systems.

A focal point of the forum was the Marketplace, an interactive exhibition of posters showcasing the latest progress and experiences in HIS. From Armenia to Zambia, almost fifty countries showcase current progress, best practices and leading-edge ideas and accomplishments in health information.

In addition to the country posters, forty organizations, from multilaterals to non-governmental organizations, featured their involvement in improving country health information systems at the exhibition.
