HIV/AIDS Monitoring and Evaluation Network (AIMEnet)
The HIV/AIDS Monitoring and Evaluation Network (AIMEnet) is a community of practice aimed at improving the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of HIV/AIDS and related programs through the sharing of experience and expertise. This online community, started in 2002, became an important resource for generating dialogue between country M&E programs and local implementers and facilitates the sharing of experience in using various M&E tools and approaches.
More than 2,100 members from 113 countries subscribed to AIMEnet. Members came from global-level organizations, grassroots NGOs, donor agencies, ministries of health, national AIDS coordinating bodies, research institutions, and universities. A weekly e-digest informed members of latest open-source HIV/AIDS M&E research articles, tools and materials, upcoming events, and job announcements. Members had the opportunity to participate in online discussions and seek information by posting online threads about the M&E of HIV/AIDS. An e-library with recent guidance documents, application materials for workshops and training, and other important HIV/AIDS M&E information was made available to members. Until October 2015, this community of practice was supported by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief funding through the U.S. Agency for International Development and MEASURE Evaluation. Members continue to exchange information on M&E of HIV/AIDS programs through MEASURE Evaluation’s e-newsletter, The Monitor, and the LinkedIn community below.
